Becki Newton
The birthplace of Becki Newton was New Haven, Connecticut, Becki Newton was raised within Guilford, Connecticut. She's English as well as Czech descent and began performing shows and musicals at local theaters. She then studied at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned an B.A. European History. Newton, in his time as a Penn students, was also in the fraternity Alpha Chi Omega. Newton made the move to New York City after graduation and started work on television commercials, including Olive Garden. Newton was the lead character Amanda Tanen in the comedy-drama show Ugly Betty from 2006 to in 2010. Newton as well as co-star Michael Urie co-hosted The Official Ugly Betty Blog. She was also a part of ABC.com's Mode After Hours webisode series. Ugly Betty ended in 2010, after 4 seasons of great success which allowed it to be a series-ending. Newton made her New York City Center encores debut in 2009. Jerry Zaks directed the Gershwin musical Girl Crazy. She played Molly Gray and performed opposite the real-life husband Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton played a prominent role in Love Bites, a television show. The romantic comedy of an hour was created by executive producer Cindy Chupack, who worked for Sex and the City. NBC confirmed the renewal of the show in the month of May 2010.However it was cancelled after Newton declaring her pregnancy co-star Jordana Spiro was legally bound to remain on her previous series My Boys (which had been later cancelled) and Chupack's decision to exit the show Love Bites was pushed back to midseason.
